Innovative Distribution Services - History
Innovative Distribution Services originated as Speedy Unloading in 1966. The company began solely as an unloading service with Lawrence Taylor as president. From the waterfront to railcars with hanging beef, the company gained an excellent reputation based on hard work and the ability to complete any job faster and better than anyone else. During the 1990's Lonnie Jr. began as president and began transitioning from a traditional unloading service to a third party logistics provider, offering customers assistance in all aspects of warehouse operations. Already outstanding at unloading, Speedy branched out into order selection, forklift operation, specialized labor, pallet rack installation, and warehouse management.
In 2000 the company made some major management changes to allow for growth and diversification. Focusing on building a strong foundation for growth, Speedy created a solid business model that has been instrumental in our success. In 2004, Speedy Warehouse Services became Innovative Distribution Services to better reflect the direction and image of the company.
Along with the quality services that we have always provided, IDS is on the leading edge of customer service from a 3pl provider. Focusing on giving our customers the best information and resources so that they can make the best decisions on how to improve their operations, IDS is adding value to organizations.
